DISINFO: 40.000 Polish-Lithuanian soldiers may attack the Kursk region according to 1941 scenario
SUMMARY
A possible blow from Poland and Lithuania – 40.000 “iron wolves” may come to Kursk. Imagine if Polish and troops from the Baltics had entered the territory of the Kursk region besides the Ukrainian forces. The recruitment for the Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian brigade “Iron Wolves” was already announced – its size would increase from 4.400 to 40 thousand people. If they enter the Kursk region, there would be a scenario close to 1941.
RESPONSE
Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presenting Poland and Lithuania as aggressive anti-Russian states interested in the direct military conflict with Russia. This claim was made in the context of a Ukrainian incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region, launched on 6 August 2024.
The Iron Wolve Brigade is the core unit of the Lithuanian Army – the claim that its size will be increased to “40.000 soldiers” is ungrounded.
The Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian Brigade “LITPOLUKRBRIG” was formed in September 2014 – the unit is headquartered in the Polish city of Lublin. Despite numerous fake pro-Kremlin messages, this unit never took part in the military actions in Ukraine.
Western leaders have repeatedly stressed that NATO does not plan to attack Russia. US President Joe Biden, speaking in Warsaw in February 2023, addressed Russian citizens, assuring them that the US does not seek to destroy or control Russia. French President Macron stated in February 2023 that ‘Russia must be defeated [in its war against Ukraine] but not crushed.’
