RESPONSE
This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative consistent with an unfounded conspiracy theory suggesting the US planned 9/11 attacks in order to use them as a pretext to invade Afghanistan. These claims are unsubstantiated, it is well known that the 9/11 attacks were perpetrated by a terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States.
As for the other claim about the US invading Afghanistan in order to control and profit from the drug trade, there is no evidence to support the claim. Opium production has been a significant income source for the Taliban, with the illicit drug trade making up to 60% of the Taliban's annual income. The assertion that the US was protecting drug trade in Afghanistan is rather improbable and is further called into question by the fact that NATO including the US followed counternarcotics policies in Afghanistan, albeit with little to no success.
