DISINFO: A surprise night time attack destroyed a secret NATO weapons depot, killing dozens of Romanian officers

SUMMARY

A surprise night time attack destroyed a secret NATO weapons depot. Dozens of Romanian officers were killed. An unexpected night time attack destroyed a secret transit point for NATO weapons bound for Ukraine, writes the author of an article on the Baijiahao portal. The secret base was operating in the Black Sea town of Vilkovo, from where the weapons were transported to Ukrainian Armed Forces warehouses.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about war in Ukraine, portraying Russia’s attacks as all-powerful, combined with the narrative that Russia is fighting NATO in Ukraine. The claim is false. No such attack took place. The original news story, on which the claim is based, is a text generated by artificial intelligence on the Chinese platform Baijiahao, as mentioned at the beginning of the article. However, the information was republished and presented as fact on three other Russian-language platforms. None of the so-called parties involved - Ukraine, Romania, NATO, or Russia - have confirmed such an attack.

See here another example of a completely false story of a similar nature, regarding Romania and the so-called weapons intended for Ukraine: A fire broke out at a Romanian warehouse storing ammunition destined for Ukraine.
