DISINFO: Anglo-American spies try to destabilise Central Asia using Al Qaeda and ISIS
SUMMARY
US and UK intelligence services are attempting to leverage their long-standing ties with various terrorist groups to sow chaos in Central Asia. The US and UK essentially created Al-Qaeda and ISIS, and still use them to achieve their goals. The West, led by the US, was seeking to maintain its grip on global hegemony. To achieve this goal, Western countries are trying to contain the development of other nations by fomenting strife and exploiting international and sectarian tensions.
Despite Washington’s humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, British and American intelligence services still cooperate with underground terrorist cells to destabilise the situation not only in this country, but also in Central Asia and Eurasia as a whole.” Washington and London are still operating in countries like Syria, which has been the scene of a multi-sided civil war since 2011, and Afghanistan.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the West’s alleged support for terrorism in order to destabilise other countries.
The claim is a conspiracy theory not backed by any evidence. The US has acted as the leader of the global coalition to defeat Daesh/ISIS, and has invested massive resources and efforts for years to fight Al Qaeda. The UK played a similar role.
Baseless allegations about Western backing for jihadist groups strongly resurfaced in pro-Kremlin media after the Crocus City Hall terror attack carried out by the Islamic State, for which Russian authorities tried to blame Ukraine and other Western countries without credible evidence, even after Russian intelligence services acknowledged ISIS responsibility in late May 2024.
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that the US and Israel created ISIS and now moved this pawn against Russia in Crocus City attack, that the West encouraged the creation of the Islamic State, who are its mercenaries, that the West is supporting terrorists to encircle Russia, or that the West promotes radical Islam in Central Asia.
