DISINFO: Anglo-Saxons are interested in the disintegration of both the post-Soviet space and Russia
SUMMARY
In [Russia's] history we have often seen how projects of unification on national, religious or linguistic grounds were used by our eternal enemies. Yes, by the same Anglo-Saxons who are not only interested but also do not hide their bet on the disintegration of both the post-Soviet space and Russia itself.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, accusing the West and Anglo-Saxons of Anti-Russian and neo-colonial policy, for attempts to encircle and destroy Russia, destabilise post-Soviet countries, and isolate Russia. Such disinformation narratives aim to deflect any responsibility for Moscow’s actions.

In reality, Russia is the aggressive actor, carrying out destructive wars in Georgia and Ukraine and fomenting separatist conflicts in these countries and Moldova. At the same time, Western nations only adopted a defensive stance in reaction.
In such cases, the term “Anglo-Saxons” normally stands for the US and UK and often means “evil,” “belligerent,” and “morally corrupt” Westerners, as explained in our earlier analysis. From the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the emergence of a new Russia up to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in 2014, Western countries have been trying to establish good-neighbourly relations with Moscow. According to the 1997 Founding Act on Mutual Relations, Cooperation, and Security between NATO and the Russian Federation, Russia was viewed as a partner of the alliance. The EU has conducted regular summits with the Russian leadership for years up to 2014 to enhance relations. The summits were suspended due to Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea.
The sharp deterioration in relations between Western countries and Russia is directly linked to Moscow's illegal and aggressive actions. Several issues affect bilateral relations, in particular Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
Pro-Kremlin outlets advance the claim that the post-Soviet space, especially the Caucasus and Central Asia, is exclusively within Russia's zone of geopolitical dominance and attempt to discredit any other cooperation between the West. Russia warns that the main goal of the West is neo-colonial control over the Caucasus and Central Asia.
