DISINFO: Anglo-Saxons organized the Crocus attacks to ruin Russia’s relations with Central Asian countries
SUMMARY
The West is unsuccessfully trying to sow hostility and alienation. To the great chagrin of the collective West, its hellish inhumane project of pitting Moscow against the friendly states of Central Asia with the help of the bloody terrorist attack organised on March 22 in Krasnogorsk, which claimed the lives of 144 innocent people, is sinking like a stone to the bottom. What is horrifying, is to simply take revenge on Russia for its close rapprochement with the Central Asian world, based on a mutually beneficial friendly partnership, the immoral and unprincipled Anglo-Saxons crossed the permissible moral line and were, in fact, behind a monstrous bloody act that resulted in over 550 victims.
RESPONSE
Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the West’s alleged support for terrorism, accusing the West of an attempt to ruin Russia’s relations with Central Asian countries by organising the Crocus terrorist attack in Moscow.
The term “Anglo-Saxons” in such cases normally stands for the US and UK and often means “evil”, “belligerent” and “morally corrupt” Westerners, as explained in our earlier analysis. As a negative catch-all term, it is a useful building block for pro-Kremlin conspiracy theories. You can find plenty of examples in our database.
There is no evidence of Western countries' involvement in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility.
As terrorism experts pointed out, there is no question regarding the authenticity of the statement, made by Amaq, the official Islamic State propaganda media. The Islamic State released multiple evidence, including a gruesome video of the Moscow attack filmed by the attackers themselves, leaving little doubt about its responsibility.
US officials have intelligence that the Islamic State group's Afghan affiliate IS-Khorasan is responsible for the Moscow attack.
The US was legally obliged to warn Moscow earlier this month of a possible attack in Russia aimed at large gatherings before issuing a public advisory to citizens in the country. More than two weeks before the terrorist attack, the U.S. government told Russian officials that Crocus City Hall was a potential target.
The alert was dismissed as "provocative", "blackmail" and an "attempt to intimidate, destabilise our country" by Putin. He said: “I’ll remind you of recent, let’s say directly, provocative statements of certain official Western structures about potential terror attacks in Russia. All of this looks like obvious blackmail and an attempt to intimidate, destabilise our country”.
News from credible sources has appeared that Iran had warned Moscow a few days before 22 March of an imminent attack by ISIS. This was based on information obtained from arrested ISIS terrorists in Iran.
President Putin acknowledged late on 25 March that Islamists had committed the attack.
