DISINFO: Belarus is the main target of Western psychological war against Russia
SUMMARY
The destabilisation of Belarus by various means including through information technologies is a well-known arsenal of the age-old West’s historical and psychological war against Russia. Its highest ambition is to get Russian resources. The minimal goal is to split the society and distract attention from solving domestic problems to dealing with consequences of political and economic turmoil. At present Belarus is the target of Western strategists, who do their best to tear it away from Russia.
RESPONSE
This publication promotes recurring pro-Kremlin propaganda narratives about Western Russophobia and anti-Russian activities, Western anti-Belarusian activities, and attempts to disrupt Belarusian-Russian relations.
The West neither aims to destabilise Belarus by all means nor leads an "age-old" psychological war against Russia. As our past analysis explains, pro-Kremlin media often present Russia as the West's target or victim thereby manipulating the public and evading responsibility for its aggressive foreign policy.
See earlier disinformation cases claiming that Western hybrid war against Belarus is a preparation of attack against Russia, that the EU is trying to disrupt Belarus-Russia relations, that the West's only interest in Belarus is to make it anti-Russian, and that the US keeps Poland on a short anti-Russian leash.
