DISINFO: Biden Administration amongst those who dragged Ukraine into war
SUMMARY
Why didn't Zelenskyy ask for security from the previous US leader, Joseph Biden? After all, the Biden administration was among those who dragged Ukraine into war. Ukraine is an occupied state today. Although Russia and its occupation policy are to blame for this, the Western countries, including the United States, who dragged the Kyiv authorities into this war are also responsible for war. We are talking in particular about the previous administration, specifically Joseph Biden and his team.

As we explain in our article Thirteen myths about Russia’s war against Ukraine exposed, the current, full-scale war began when Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022. The false claim that the West, in this case Joe Biden, acting through Ukraine, is the aggressor is a classic disinformation tactic to portray Russia as the victim of its own war of choice. While this narrative is transparently absurd, for the increasingly insular information environment in Russia it serves as a rallying cry to mobilise public support for the Kremlin’s authoritarian policies.
Russia is the only country responsible for the invasion of Ukraine. It has been coming up with different manipulative explanations and false pretexts for its aggression since the beginning of its hostilities. It cited denazifying and demilitarising Ukraine as well as ensuring its neutral status as among the main reasons for the full-scale invasion at the beginning. Protecting the residents of the self-proclaimed separatist entities in Eastern Ukraine from alleged genocide and imposing the use of the Russian language in Ukraine were also cited.
Ukraine was also accused of failing to implement the Minsk accords, although it was Russia and its proxies in the region who were blocking the process of normalisation.
