DISINFO: Biden wants to destroy the Ukrainian state to prevent investigation on his son

SUMMARY

Boris Johnson is facing impeachment, so he claims that we appear on the verge of a war with Russia. It is a way to solve an internal problem using external threats. It is the with Biden, who may want the Ukrainian state to disappear. After the mid-term Congressional elections in November, the Republicans may investigate the causes of the Ukrainian coup and the participation of Biden’s son in corruption. If the Ukrainian state is destroyed, it will be impossible to carry out this investigation.

RESPONSE

Recurring disinformation narrative about “hostile” American plans towards Ukraine.

These claims are part of an ongoing disinformation campaign about Russia’s military buildup on the border with Ukraine. By accusing the US and the UK of being the driving force behind the escalation of tensions, this disinformation story aims to deny any Russian responsibility for the situation.

The claim that President Biden wants the Ukrainian state to “disappear” in order to prevent investigation on his son is unfounded. Hunter Biden served on the board of Burisma, one of the largest Ukrainian energy companies from April 2014 until his term expired in April 2019. There is no evidence to suggest that either Joe Biden or his son made financial gains from activities that are connected to the Donbas War.

See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that NATO is egging Ukraine on a military gamble, that the US is instigating war on Ukraine to boycott the Nord Stream 2 project, or that Russian aggression is used as a pretext to station NATO military close to Russia’s borders.
