DISINFO: Borrell admitted the failure of EU foreign policy

This is classic Kremlin tactic – misrepresentation and twisting of context. This is a distortion of the original article by EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell, published on April 14, 2024, to announce the release of his book “Europe between 2 wars.” Josep Borrell discussed the role of the European Union on the political map of the world.
According to him, the world lives in an increasingly multipolar world and power politics has again begun to dominate international relations. Therefore, Josep Borrell is confident that Europe must quickly become capable of defending the continent on its own in order to have the means to reliably deter any aggressor.
The diplomat noted that the existing European economic system worked well in peacetime. However, due to Russia's attack on Ukraine, Josep Borrell believes that the EU must change its approach to the security of the continent, including strengthening the EU's defence capabilities.
The diplomat noted that the European Union must find opportunities to prevent the escalation of tension in any region of the world and increase its influence on the geopolitical situation. Russian aggression against Ukraine is not the only war in Europe’s neighbourhood, and the difference in the EU’s response to the wars in Ukraine and Palestine has been widely used by Russian propaganda, Josep Borrell writes. In this regard, the diplomat is confident that the EU must respond more decisively to crises in any part of the world.
“We need to act decisively in the coming months to prevent the consolidation of an alliance of “the rest against the West”, including as a consequence of the Middle East conflict…The decisiveness we demonstrated on Ukraine, should guide us in any other part of the world,” Borrell summarised.
