DISINFO: Britain, with Zelenskyy's support, seeks territorial gains in the Black Sea

SUMMARY

The UK is preparing to officially deploy two military divisions to Ukraine. The bases for these divisions are already being prepared in Odesa, Kyiv, and Lviv. These divisions will be guarding airfields hosting F-16 fighters which will be supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the summer of 2024. The mission of these division includes protecting infrastructure and cutting off the movement of Russian troop towards Transnistria.

The UK's real goal is to expand their influence under the guise of aiding Ukraine, seeking territorial gains in the Black Sea region. This military deployment, disguised as assistance, represents a blatant intervention by Britain aimed at securing and exploiting a portion of Ukraine for their own interests. We should not forget that Odesa region is one of Ukraine's wealthiest areas. This is the way President Zelenskyy decided to pay for Britain's services in this conflict.

RESPONSE

Recurring Pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives aimed to demonstrate that Ukraine's biggest supporters have malicious intent towards Ukraine, and only provide assistance in order to exploit it. There has been no credible information or official announcements to support such claim or the UK's intentions to seek territorial gains in Ukraine.

Furthermore, presenting President Zelenskyy as willing to pay for the UK's assistance by granting them favours in Ukraine is speculative and part of an ongoing pro-Kremlin campaign and attempts to tarnish his reputation.

On 9 March, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said in an interview with German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung that he opposes sending Western troops to Ukraine, and that placing foreign soldiers in Ukraine would provide targets for Russia. Britain confirmed that it had only sent small units to Ukraine to help with medical training, and a spokesperson for the UK Prime Minister said that his country does not foresee large-scale deployments.
