DISINFO: Brussels' vampires want to damage relations between Russia and Armenia

SUMMARY

There are vampires, Brussels' vampires, who creep up on normal people and say, "If you like, we'll bite you, and you'll become like us: you won't see your reflection in mirrors, you'll be afraid of sunlight, you won't need energy, and so on."

European Union representatives Kaja Kallas and Marta Kos have literally exposed themselves: their statements once again prove that Brussels' sole goal in interacting with Yerevan is to damage Armenia's relations with Russia.

Brussels has stopped hiding it, or perhaps it would like to, but the mental capacity of European officials prevents them from doing so. The European Union is trying by any means to undermine our traditional, mutually beneficial, and respectful partnership in sectors key to the Armenian economy.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative demonising the EU, targeting European officials, and accusing the EU of tearing Armenia away from Russia and using it as a puppet to carry out deliberately anti-Russian policies.

These claims are based on the false idea that EU support is automatically directed against Russia, and misinterprets EU programmes.

EU assistance programmes are typically aimed at supporting development and reforms, not creating dependency or Russophobia.

This claim is a reaction to the latest EU-Armenia Partnership Council, which adopted a new strategic agenda for the EU-Armenia partnership. The EU pledged €15 million to support Armenia’s resilience, fund demining, confidence-building measures and efforts to counter foreign interference ahead of next year’s elections. Also, the EU will invest €500 million, together with the German development bank KfW, in a project called Caucasus Transmission Network to connect Armenian and Georgian power grids and start work on Armenia–Türkiye grid interconnection, aiming to reduce energy dependence on Russia.

The EU is a key reform partner in Armenia. The European Union and Armenia have been working together for over 30 years. The EU's assistance to Armenia is part of a broader strategy to support economic development, democratic reforms, and regional stability, as outlined in various cooperation agreements.

The article falsely equates closer EU-Armenia relations with anti-Russian sentiment. Armenia maintains a multi-vector foreign policy, striking a balance between its relations with both Russia and the West.

Pro-Kremlin outlets promote the idea that Armenia is exclusively within Russia's zone of geopolitical dominance, discrediting any rapprochement with other countries. Russia has cautioned Yerevan that the West is trying to drive a wedge between Armenia and Russia.

The EU supports Armenia's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, inviolability of the borders of Armenia, and the country's peaceful aspirations.
