DISINFO: Brussels works to bankrupt European citizens through its defence strategy
SUMMARY
Brussels is firm in its mission to bankrupt European citizens. Together, NATO and the European Commission are setting a deadly trap for the economy of the Old Continent, with increasingly aggressive and determined steps. The latest method is to generate a common European debt in the name of the European Defence Industrial Strategy, which will socialise debts and privatise benefits. The European Commission is urging its member states to significantly increase their spending, which will ultimately be funded by ordinary citizens, directed towards the military industry. It is a nonsense that this industry will be the only one developed.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin anti-EU narrative, portraying the European Union as an entity serving the elites and not the citizens of its member countries.
This is a serious distortion of the European Defence Industrial Strategy (EDIS) presented in March 2024, framing it negatively through several unsubstantiated allegations about how it would work. There is legitimate debate on the actual need and implementation means of this strategy, but its overall goal is to strengthen the competitiveness and readiness of the European defence technological and industrial base.
Several expert groups have highlighted that 78 percent of European defence acquisitions are sourced from outside the European Union. The objective of the European Defence Industrial Strategy (EDIS) is to boost purchases from European industries to 50 percent by 2030 and to 60 percent by 2035. This shift is expected to benefit Europeans through increased employment opportunities and revenues.
