DISINFO: China-EU summit looks like a new opium war
SUMMARY
The EU-China summit has finished during which they again accused China of Tibet and the violation of Uyghur rights. That is why the Chinese understand perfectly well that today they are with Russia. If they let Russia down, tomorrow they will be next.
And they still have a new opium war. For those who do not remember: the British wanted to open up the Chinese market. The Chinese say, “No need, we have everything, we don’t need anything, go away.” Then they took opium from India and brought it to China by force. Almost 70 percent of the Chinese nation smoked themselves to death then. It’s about the same now.
The Chinese understand this perfectly well. They are told [by EU], “Stop production, we will supply you, and you just consume.” What will they supply? Well, maybe opium, or maybe not opium, or maybe something even worse. In this sense, China doesn’t understand this, not only from the point of view of historical retrospect, but also because it understands that it has a reliable and loyal comrade nearby. Yes, it is small, yes, one hundred and forty-five million, but it has the largest territory and it is the strongest, it has everything in their earth, it has all the prospects. And what about these?
The Europeans set a condition to move in this direction – to strangle Ukraine as well.
RESPONSE
Conspiracy theory and false narrative to paint the EU as an exploitative and unreliable partner in comparison to reliable Russia.
The European Union (EU) and China held their 25th summit in Beijing on 24 July 2025. Contrary to claims circulating in conspiracy narratives, the EU did not ask China to “stop production,” which would be unfeasible. During the summit, EU leaders addressed Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, emphasising that the conflict poses not only an existential threat to Ukraine but also a broader threat to global security.
The EU reiterated that, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has a special responsibility to uphold the rules-based international order, the UN Charter, and international law, principles clearly violated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The EU also repeated its call for China to refrain from providing any material support that could sustain Russia’s military-industrial base. Furthermore, the EU encouraged China to use its influence to support a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, grounded in the principles of the UN Charter.
In Russia's conspiracy narrative, the EU is portrayed as being responsible for Russia's invasion of Ukraine and as seeking to destroy Ukraine through what is described as a "colonial war". Based on this framing, this disinformation media outlet further claims that the EU demonstrated its intention to “strangle Ukraine as well” during the EU-China summit, despite the inherent contradiction in this statement.
