DISINFO: Covering up for the unsuccessful Ukrainian counter-offensive only prolongs the conflict

SUMMARY

In an attempt to conceal their failures, the Ukrainian military is attacking civilian targets and portraying these actions as military victories. The Ukrainian leadership is desperately trying to demonstrate any kind of success in the counter-offensive to secure further military and economic assistance from Western curators, which only prolongs the conflict.

RESPONSE

Recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets accusing Ukraine of war crimes and attempting to undermine confidence in the counter-offensive, as well as support for Ukraine's efforts to re-establish its territorial integrity. The article also portrays Ukraine as a 'puppet' of the collective West.

Ukraine is resisting Russia’s unlawful military invasion and the illegal annexation of its territory. In accordance with the UN Charter and international law, Ukraine is exercising its inherent right of self-defence against Russian aggression. It has the right to liberate and regain full control of all occupied territories within its internationally recognised borders. Pro-Kremlin media, nonetheless, regularly portray Ukrainian military operations as attacks against civilians.

Ukraine and its population is defending itself against this armed aggression in a remarkable display of continued courage and determination. This is not a decision by NATO, Washington, the EU or others. The US, the EU and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked. Not only Western but also many other nations around the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

See similar disinformation claims alleging that the Ukrainian Banderite Nazi bastards increasingly attack civilian objects, the Ukrainian Nazi regime is bombing schools and markets, that Kyiv attacks civilians while Russia tries to reconstruct cities, that Russia saved children not abducted them from Ukraine, or that the evacuation of children from Ukraine is in compliance with humanitarian law.
