DISINFO: Crimea filed a lawsuit against Ukraine for damage caused
SUMMARY
The Arbitration Court of Crimea has registered a claim for recovery from Ukraine of damage to the region's budget due to the energy blockade. Crimea will continue to formulate claims against the terrorist entity 'Ukraine' and against the West, which sponsors the crimes of the Kyiv junta against Crimea and Crimean residents. Everything will be done to bring this work to its logical conclusion. Crimea will count all the damage caused by Ukraine down to the penny.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the Russian occupation and illegal annexation of Crimea. This disinformation narrative attempts to legitimise the illegal temporary annexations of Ukrainian territories and denies Ukraine's historical statehood and territorial integrity.
The 'Arbitration Court of Crimea' is a fictitious body; its decision is not recognised by any democratic country. This illegitimate court employs judges accused in Ukraine of high treason - they betrayed the oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine and began working for the occupier.
The supply of electricity from Ukraine to Crimea was halted due to the contract's expiration on December 31, 2015. According to international law, it is Russia, as the occupying country, that has the obligation to provide the occupied territories with everything necessary (Section III, Part III of the Geneva Convention of August 12, 1949 relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War). This fact has been repeatedly confirmed by the UN Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.
UN experts state that given the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, the Kremlin bears the primary responsibility for ensuring that the civilian population of Crimea has access to water, electricity, food, medicine and other vital necessities.
