DISINFO: Czechia outran even Poland in its anti-Russian policies
SUMMARY
A bloc of Washington’s vassal states in Central Europe is doing its best to freeze its relations with Moscow. The Czech authorities started to lead in this process, which may possibly end with a complete rupture of diplomatic relations with Russia. Hardly anyone expected such behaviour from Czechia as the traditional leaders [in the anti-Russian policies] were Poland and the Baltic states (joined by Romania and Bulgaria). The Czech authorities decided to implement this most bizarre step, destroying the image of Czechia as a predictable and pragmatic country.
Some European states, inspired by their overseas supervisor, decided to “go to the war until the last diplomat”.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about “lost sovereignty” – it presents the claim that the Central and Eastern European countries are the American “puppet-states” or “vassals”. This narrative includes a message that the United States makes its European allies carry out anti-Russian policies.
This message is connected to the recent decision of the Czech authorities to expel the Russian diplomats in response to the participation of the Russian special services in the Vrbětice ammunition explosion in Czechia.
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis and Interior Minister Jan Hamacek announced on Saturday 17 April 2021 that the Czech intelligence services collected evidence demonstrating Russian involvement in the 2014 Vrbětice explosion. More specifically, it implicates Unit 29155, a division of Russia’s GRU agency previously linked to “assassination attempts and other subversive actions across Europe.” Prague’s findings were independently corroborated in the course of an investigation jointly conducted by Bellingcat, The Insider (Russia), Der Spiegel (Germany), and Respekt.cz (Czech Republic).
See other cases connected to the Vrbětice explosion: No evidence of Moscow’s involvement in the 2014 Vrbětice explosion; Allegations of the Russian role in Vrbětice explosion part of Russophobic smear campaign and Anti-Russian campaign is the real reason behind the expulsion of Russian diplomats from Czechia.
