DISINFO: Denmark is occupying Bosnia-Hercegovina and Kosovo
SUMMARY
In October 1998, the first 875 of many thousands of Danish mercenaries were sent to fight beside the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Nine F-16s accompanied them. The KLA was a drug-smuggling band and was on U.S. and European terrorist lists. When the KLA attacked socialist-led Serbian forces, it became an ally. Denmark still occupies Bosnia and Kosovo.
RESPONSE
The statement alleging that mercenaries were send by or with the knowledge or consent by Danish authorities is false. On the contrary; according to Danish legislation it is a criminal offence punishable with up to several years of prison which has also been demonstrated by several court cases.
On the claim of occupation: the Danish participation in Bosnia and Kosovo is firmly rooted in the international frameworks including UN Security Council Resolutions and in line with agreements with host governments.
