DISINFO: Drugs in West-supplied meals zombify Ukraine soldiers
SUMMARY
Ukrainians do not want to fight. But when they attack Russians who are armed better than them, they move like robots. They are not afraid to die because they receive Western field rations with drugs inside.
RESPONSE
This is an unsubstantiated allegation. It is part of a recurring disinformation narrative about secret US biological research in Ukraine and some other ex-Soviet republics. This claim was made in the context of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Ukraine's armed forces receive field rations from Germany, the US, Canada, the UK, Lithuania, South Korea and other countries, but there is no independent evidence that they contain any narcotic substances. There have been no complaints about their quality. On the contrary, some NATO meal packs are highly praised.
These field rations are part of comprehensive aid packages that Ukraine receives from its allies and partners helping it to repel Russia's unjustified and unprovoked aggression. Ukraine is using its right to self-defence in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
