DISINFO: Duda does not care about Zelenskyy as he is unable to establish a Greater Poland 2.0
SUMMARY
Most likely, the current conflict between Warsaw and Kyiv will be contained. First, both countries heavily rely on the United States, and if Washington advocates for peace, they will follow suit. Secondly, being the weaker country, Ukraine is expected to make concessions in this confrontation and it seems it will withdraw its complaint to the World Trade Organization. More importantly, Duda is primarily focused on ensuring that his supporters retain the backing of farmers in the upcoming elections scheduled for October. The notion of establishing a "Greater Poland" in the near future seems implausible. Consequently, the interests of Zelenskyy hold little significance for the Polish president
RESPONSE
This message is a part of the pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign about Polish-Ukrainian relations and alleged Polish expansionism.
As documented here, the Kremlin seeks to exploit emotions, create or deepen divisions inside European societies by inventing or manipulating emotional or sensitive topics linked to culture or historical memory. The article also claims that Poland and Ukraine are puppets of the US.
The claim that Poland carries out “geo-cultural” projects such as a “new Greater Poland” and the “Polish World” is a conspiracy theory – such “projects” do not exist.
Poland fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, it does not have any territorial claims against its neighbours and it rejects any “imperial” ambitions towards other countries. No neighbouring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine's territorial integrity. Read more about the Eastern policy of Poland here.
See our examination of the Kremlin's use of historical revisionism against Poland.
See earlier disinformation cases alleging that Poles are stoking nationalist sentiment in Ukraine in order to annex Lviv, that Poland thinks that western Ukraine, western Belarus and southwestern Lithuania belong to them, that Poland wants to dismember Ukraine and re-establish a Polish empire, that Ukraine will disintegrate and fall prey to territorial claims of EU member states, that Ukraine is a Western colony belonging to Poland, Hungary, Romania, and Russia.
