DISINFO: EU leaders, puppets of financial corporations and deep state, want the conflict to continue at all costs

SUMMARY

European leaders serve the war party and serve the interests of financial corporations and the deep state that wants the conflict to continue at all costs. Their so-called peace deal is completely unrelated to reality that Russia will not accept under any circumstances. This means that the plan's authors have only one goal: to derail direct negotiations between Trump and Putin.

This plan explains their obsession with preaching the rearmament plan and raising the threat of a Russian invasion of Europe. In effect, their game is exposed and aims to provoke a climate of war and mobilization, fuelled by fear and justified by a continuing state of emergency.

RESPONSE

This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets, claiming EU leaders are puppets of big corporation and the Deep state, accusing European Union of being a warmongering actor refusing to accept a solution for the war in Ukraine even as others carry out peace negotiations.

It is consistent with a big conspiracy about financial elites dominating the world which portrays national states as dependent on multinational corporations and presents EU leaders as their vassals. See our analysis of the Kremlin's claims about the EU's lost sovereignty.

These claims were made in the context of the the upcoming Trump-Putin summit in Budapest.

While some European leaders have expressed criticism of the fact that an individual under a ICC warrant like Putin intends to set foot on EU territory, the EU has not opposed in principle to a Trump-Putin summit. HRVP Kaja Kallas has stated: 'The question is whether there is any outcome out of this. This is what we need to see, how these things are going in Budapest, as we have been very firm that Russia only negotiates when they are put on pressure. So, we also hope that President Trump does that.'

On 17 October 2025, European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper confirmed during a briefing with journalists that individual EU countries could make exceptions to the travel ban in place for Russian aircraft, and that 'such derogations must be given by member states individually'. Nonetheless, EU top leaders have insisted that Ukrainian president Zelensky should be at the summit as well.

EU officials have repeatedly stated that it is up to Ukraine only, as the victim of Russia’s aggression, to decide when peace talks with Russia may be possible and in which terms to end the war. The European Union is committed to achieving a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine, ensuring that Kyiv’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected.

Read similar disinformation cases claiming that The EU is trying to derail the upcoming Trump-Putin summit, that Europe opposes a peace agreement to profit from the war against Russia, that the EU is not capable of peace, it is only interested in waging war, that the EU's sole agenda is to wage war against Russia to inflict maximum damage, that The war in Ukraine is a huge business project of the US and EU
