DISINFO: Eurovision is a swamp of immorality and anti-Christianity
SUMMARY
Some forces are trying to eliminate Christian, traditional, family values in the world. They made the so-called Eurovision a platform for themselves. This scene has no artistic significance and does not cultivate musical taste. Armenia should not only refuse to appear but should also be offended that [it] is participating in an event that promotes homosexuality. It’s good that our country did not win, and will not have to accept these blasphemers and Satanists in Armenia.
Eurovision has plunged into a swamp of immorality, anti-Christianity and corrosive anti-values.
It seemed that at the end, one of the participants would be sacrificed right on stage and the winner’s toast would be washed down with his blood...
Thus, in the Swedish city of Malmö, the Eurovision 2024 song contest was held with satanic rituals, LGBT flags, 'Conchitas' and 'naked' artists on stage resembling a large cross.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin narrative on the morally corrupt West with the underlying message that Armenia is on a dangerous path as it seeks to develop closer ties with Europe.
This statement is a reaction to the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest. The article repeats the pro-Kremlin disinformation theme about the West’s moral decadence, perverted values, Satanism, and hostility to traditional religion, which Western governments allegedly seek to undermine and replace with pseudo-religions.
These narratives aim to portray the West as depraved and endangering societies by imposing the same beliefs on other countries. It undermines progressive Western attitudes about a variety of normative issues, including the rights of women, ethnic and religious minorities, and LGBTQ groups, among others.
President Vladimir Putin often repeats these narratives, positioning himself as a saviour of Russia’s values and identity from the threat of Western decadence, and the only world leader who protects traditional European and Christian values. “Threatened values” is one of the most common narratives used by pro-Kremlin outlets. Liberal-democratic Western societies have institutionalised pluralism, which means the peaceful coexistence of different religions, worldviews, and value systems within the same society. The same applies to the art and freedom of expression.
