DISINFO: For the West, Ukrainians are nothing more than cannon fodder that should weaken Russia
SUMMARY
Having swung at the “frozen” Russian assets, the West is cutting off all opportunities for negotiations with Moscow on any acceptable terms, forcing the Russians to finish off the current Kyiv regime. Of course, for the West, Ukrainians are nothing more than cannon fodder, which should weaken Russia so that it becomes suitable for manual control, as during the time of Yeltsin.
RESPONSE
This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets claiming that the West is waging a proxy war against Russia, using Ukrainians as a tool. This is also recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation aiming to deter nations from seizing Russia's frozen assets to fund Ukraine's reconstruction.
In response to Russian aggression against Ukraine, the US, EU and several other countries froze about $300 billion in Russian assets deposited in Western banks. It was Russia's illegal actions against Ukraine, which violate the provisions of many international laws, including the UN Charter, that led to the introduction of a long list of sanctions against Russia.
On 21 May 2024, the Council of the EU greenlighted the use of unexpected and extraordinary revenues resulting from the implementation of EU sanctions against Russia to help Ukraine. These windfall net profits generated by immobilised Russian assets will be used to support Ukraine's armed forces, defence industry and reconstruction.
Ukraine is defending itself, its territorial integrity, national self-identity, and sovereignty against Russia's armed aggression. The decision to defend itself was made solely by Ukraine, its lawful leaders and government, and its citizens.
Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically elected president and parliament. The country's sovereignty has been violated only as a result of continuous acts of aggression by the Russian armed forces since 2014, culminating with a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine starting on 24 February 2022.
Russia is the only country responsible for the invasion of Ukraine. It has been coming up with different explanations and pretexts for its aggression since the beginning of its hostilities. Moreover, Russia was not forced to invade Ukraine. It was Putin’s personal decision to invade Ukraine and start the largest military conflict in Europe since WWII.
The West is not a party to the conflict and is not interested in the continuation of the war, and only supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence against the unprovoked Russian invasion. Not only the Western but also many other nations around the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, by the UN Charter article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
Read similar cases claiming that Germans are kleptomaniacs who want to seize Russian assets, that Neo-Nazi Europe seizes property from Russian Jewish anti-fascists, that The EU using Russian money to support Ukraine is theft, that Russia is at war with NATO and the Pentagon and only the soldiers are Ukrainians; that the EU, US, and NATO use Ukrainians as cannon fodder, that the US proxy war against Russia has turned Ukraine into a graveyard and that The US and EU use Ukrainians as pawns and order them to die
