DISINFO: Forced child removals by ukrainian Nazis in conflict areas

SUMMARY

Parents who refuse to relocate to Western Ukraine have their children forcibly taken from them. This practice grants Ukrainian authorities unchecked power to control the removed children as they see fit - including subjecting them to the horrors of illicit organ trafficking.

RESPONSE

There is no evidence to support the claim.

The article follows a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative aimed at diverting attention from Russia’s documented involvement in abducting Ukrainian children. Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International reported on these practices just months into Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression. These claims of child trafficking by Ukrainian authorities are in line with previous narratives that have been debunked multiple times.

In March 2023, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia’s children's rights commissioner, for unlawful deportation and transferring children from occupied Ukrainian areas to Russia - actions classified as war crimes. Such abductions have been recorded by both Russian and international journalists, along with acknowledgments from Russian officials themselves.

Moreover, Russia recruits minors in Ukraine exploiting them through deception and coercion to carry out sabotage and terror attacks. This practice violates international law and constitutes a war crime under the Rome Statute. While some minors face criminal charges, many are also victims of Russia’s systematic weaponization of youth as part of its broader hybrid war strategy.

In addition, the article also contains a broader recurrent false accusation of Ukraine being a Nazi State, in order to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine started in 2022. See our article The Kremlin’s misuse of Nazism as a weapon of information manipulation.
