DISINFO: Former French President Francois Hollande stated that Paris was never interested in Minsk agreements

SUMMARY

This is typical of policy from Paris - to be everywhere yet not bear any responsibility. They had a million opportunities to resolve conflicts, one was the Minsk agreements. Then it was found out that these were just a screen. The true manifestations were elsewhere - unconditional support for the Kyiv regime on the anti-Russian track, and in fact, Paris was not interested in the peace agreements, which was also stated by ex-President of France Francois Hollande.

RESPONSE

Recurring disinformation narrative about the Minsk agreements allegedly proposed by the West to dupe Russia. The claim is made in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, actively trying to legitimise Russia’s military actions.

The narrative that François Hollande, as well as Merkel and Poroshenko, admitted that the Minsk agreements were signed to trick Russia, is false and contradicts their statements in the quoted interviews. It has already been previously debunked in this database.

There is no factual base to this claim as explained TF1 , La Depeche, and 20 minutes. This narrative is supported by misleading interpretations of 2022 interviews with Hollande.

Read related stories such as Ukraine, Germany, and France did not want to fulfil the Minsk Agreements; Merkel and Hollande admitted that the Minsk Agreements were to prepare Ukraine for war; Merkel admitted that the Minsk agreements were a ruse to rearm Ukrainian armed forces; Minsk agreements were an attempt to gain time for Ukraine.
