DISINFO: France and Poland want to tear Ukraine to shreds

SUMMARY

Everyone thinks that today, the French and the Poles are talking about peacekeepers. However, Russia’s enemies cannot be peacemakers. These vultures want to occupy Western Ukraine - they have looked at what is happening in Syria, which is being torn to shreds.

Here is what will happen next. The Ukrainian troops will engage in looting throughout the ruined country. Then, the Europeans will declare that they have to protect their citizens living there, so they will create their European Golan Heights under the name of Transcarpathia and introduce troops there. The Poles are dreaming of taking their historic lands, while the French want to make money.

RESPONSE

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative challenging Ukraine’s statehood and presenting Poland and France as anti-Ukrainian countries with imperial ambitions. Apart from smearing these EU members, the aim is also to deflect attention away from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

This disinformation message about alleged Polish imperialistic plans towards Ukraine has adopted several different and sometimes contradictory forms, including allegations that Poland either wants to create a puppet proxy-state in Western Ukraine or annex these territories or that it is President Zelenskyy who wants to cede this land due to his “Polish origin”.

Poland and France adhere to international law regarding state borders, fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of neighbouring countries and it rejects any “imperial” ambitions towards other countries. Poland, as well as the EU and the US, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. No neighbouring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity in a display of imperial, revisionist aggression.
