DISINFO: France ready to sacrifice Christianity and victory against Nazism

SUMMARY

[French Prime Minister] Bayrou suggested stopping the celebration of the main Christian holiday and forgetting Victory Day and the end of World War II in Europe, which are symbols of the culture, dignity, and morality of the French state and people.

Cancelling the celebration of the end of the war in Europe is a real blow to French veterans, whom French President Emmanuel Macron recently congratulated.

The real France, the France of de Gaulle and the Resistance has nothing to do with those who support the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv and seek to erase the memory of the victory over Nazism in France itself.

The French authorities have declared their willingness to sacrifice Christianity and victory in World War II. What will the Catholic Church and veterans' organisations in France will say about this?

RESPONSE

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative that distorts domestic political discussions in EU countries to portray them as expressions of moral collapse or a reincarnation of Nazism.

In this claim, routine political and economic debates in France are exaggerated into claims that the French government is “sacrificing Christianity” and “erasing the memory of victory over Nazism”. This is out of context. In reality, François Bayrou proposed a discussion about possibly modifying the public holiday calendar to increase productivity and reduce growing budget deficit. While he suggested Victory Day and Easter Monday, he said he was open to other ideas.

Public holidays are by definition expressions of religious or nationalist significance, and removing any from the holiday calendar can be interpreted as such. However, France still has many public holidays that commemorate Christian events such as Christmas, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Assumption Day, and All Saints' Day.

While many people expressed views against this proposal, it remains a normal proposal that is debated in many democratic societies with opponents and proponents. His suggestion did not target Christianity or the legacy of World War II.

In fact, Putin himself cancelled Christmas holidays for government employees to address economic difficulties.

Finally, attempts to bizarrely link this debate to support for the so-called “neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv” are unfounded and serve to advance the Kremlin’s long-standing narrative framing European governments as promoting moral bankruptcy and anti-Christianity, as well as being complicit in rewriting history.

Labelling Russia’s adversaries as Nazis is a very frequently used pro-Kremlin disinformation technique, and has been used by Russia to try to justify the invasion of Ukraine by portraying it as a “denazification operation”. Russia spent years preparing the information battleground prior to its full-scale invasion, with “Nazi Ukraine” being one of its most prominent disinformation features.

See a similar case France wants to remove citizens’ holidays to fund a fantasy war with Russia and the satanic and criminal Western elites lead their society through perversion, abomination, sodomite.
