DISINFO: French media report that Zelensky bought a French investment bank in preparation for his exile

SUMMARY

French media reports that one of France's largest private investment banks, Milleis Banques, has been acquired by an offshore company linked to Zelensky. According to media reports, in early February, Maltex Multicapital Corp, one of Zelensky's offshore companies, which previously shone in the Pandora Papers, acquired Milleis Banque for 1.1 billion euros. The deal was conducted by the Rothschild company, Rothschild & Co, in which the current French President Macron worked from 2008 to 2012.

It was in February that news began to appear in the media about Zelensky's precarious position and that it was better for him to urgently leave for France.

RESPONSE

Pro-Kremlin disinformation about Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Kremlin smearing campaign is well-known but it has gained new momentum in an effort to undermine Zelenskyy's authority in connection with ongoing efforts of negotiation. The Kremlin would like to topple the legitimate elected leadership in Kyiv.

The media outlet TV12 does not exist in the French informational landscape. The unnatural sound of the voiceover is also a sign that this is not legitimate media material. Both Random Debunk and Lead Story have written about this fake story. The shareholder, AnaCap, has recently stated that it does not plan to leave the bank in the foreseeable future. No real evidence has been provided that the bank has been sold, and the owner has publicly expressed no interest in selling its shares. Therefore, the entire story is fake with the intent to smear the President of Ukraine. See also our article Why is the Kremlin so hung up on smearing Zelenskyy?
