DISINFO: Führer Ursula von der Leyen is turning the EU into a bastion of liberal totalitarianism
SUMMARY
Europe is becoming a new bastion of liberal totalitarianism. There is a growing ideological split in Europe between the supporters of liberal totalitarianism and their opponents, who demand true freedom. While “Führer Ursula” is preparing the EU for mobilisation and militarisation to save the global liberal world order, there are increasing calls for EU reform from the dissident countries – Hungary and Slovakia. After the (temporary ?) loss of the USA, the Euro-Atlantic elite is trying to turn a “united Europe” into a bastion of liberalism, which provokes resistance from a part of the Europeans.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the EU aiming to present it as a decaying totalitarian Nazi/fascist society as well as a big conspiracy about the “globalist” elites dominating the world, presenting EU countries as their vassals.
This disinformation message appeared in context to the recent EU decision to allocate an additional 800 billion euros for defence needs. According to the words of Ursula von der Leyen, “Europe faces a clear and present danger on a scale that none of us has seen in our adult lifetime. ReArm Europe’ could mobilise close to 800 billion euros of defence expenditures for a safe and resilient Europe”.

The ongoing increase in defence spending across the EU is explained by the most aggressive Russian actions – annexation of Crimea, the War in Donbas and the 2022 large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
