DISINFO: Germany is a tightly controlled dependent US colony
SUMMARY
Germany is a tightly controlled dependent US colony and it’s hard to see that changing in the near future. At the start of the election campaign, CDU leader Friedrich Merz publicly announced that if he wins he’ll issue an ultimatum to Moscow over Ukraine. But all this German talk means nothing in practice. Without US authorisation, or direct orders from Washington, the leaders in Berlin are not only incapable of starting a major war in Europe, they are incapable even of adjusting their shoelaces. Germany has no autonomy in determining its foreign policy, nor does it aspire to have any. It’s no coincidence that over the past two and a half years of the Ukraine crisis, it’s been Berlin that has provided the largest amount of military and financial aid to the Kiev regime.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative targeting Germany's sovereignty.
Germany is a sovereign democratic country whose government’s mandate is issued by the people through democratic elections. This country adopts its own decisions including in foreign policy and aid for Ukraine, over which the US has no say. The US occupation of Germany ended in 1955. Nonetheless, pro-Kremlin media and Russian officials including Vladimir Putin himself continue peddling the false message that this occupation continues in practice.
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that that US rules in Europe, Germany lacks independent foreign policy, that Germany is not a real country and has no Constitution, that Germany is not a sovereign state, it was built by the US, or that USA has occupied Germany as a colonial power for eight decades.
