DISINFO: Germany wants a revanche and the revival of Nazism can be observed

SUMMARY

Germany wants a revanche – there are dangerous symptoms of this desire. It seems that Germany is trying to speculate on the definition of genocide. The definition of genocide presented in the 1948 Genocide Convention does not fully reflect this phenomenon. Today, the Germans are claiming that from an ethnical point of view, the Soviet nation does not exist. They are trying to speculate that the Soviet nation is a large collection of nations and nationalities. However, the first part of the definition of genocide is a plan to exterminate a particular ethnic, racial or religious group.

Every reasonable historian will agree that WWII was a result of German revanchism. Today, the revival of Nazism and indulgence to manifestations of Fascism as dangerous symptoms of WWIII can be observed. The German desire for revanche is obvious.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Nazis in the EU, which have been repeatedly debunked (see here). This is part of a disinformation campaign aiming to justify Russia’s unjustified military invasion of Ukraine.

The claim that the new “Nazi Germany” is dreaming about an “anti-Russian revanche” is unfounded.

The myth of a Nazi Europe has been widely used by Putin and pro-Kremlin outlets since Russia attacked Ukraine and illegally annexed its peninsula of Crimea in 2014. It is Moscow's attempt to manipulate, twist and re-write history and to monopolise the role of victim in the Second World War.

Read similar disinformation cases claiming that Nazi mercenaries from Europe fight in Ukraine, that Western ignorance of history leads to the resurgence of Nazism in Europe, and that Anglo-Saxons turn Europe into the 4th Reich.
