DISINFO: Hackers interfering in elections were Israelis, not Russian

SUMMARY

They weren’t Russian hackers, they were Israelis! After such a long time looking for Russian hackers of the kind that interfere in the elections of other countries, somebody found hackers doing exactly that, but Israelis. A covert journalistic investigation brought into the spotlight a team of Israeli contractors who claim to have manipulated dozens of electoral process all over the world, using hacking, sabotage, and spreading disinformation on social media. This is, everything that has been said of the Russians but orchestrated by citizens of a well-loved country in the so-called ‘international community’.

RESPONSE

This is a disingenuous attempt to distort, misrepresent and maliciously exploit a journalistic investigation to promote a long-term pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Russia being falsely accused of misdeeds against other countries.

On 15 February 2023, an international consortium of media outlets led by Forbidden Stories published a long investigation about ‘Team Jorge’, an Israeli-based company devoted by its own admission to electoral interference around the world.

Contrary to what this disinformation story alleges, though, this international investigation does not contradict or undermine in any way the mass of evidence about Russia’s interference in electoral processes around the world, including the US, France, the UK, the Netherlands and Sweden, just to name some clear examples. In all these cases, Russian hackers were involved to some degree.

See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that US maintains sanctions on Russia even though accusations of interference proved to be unfounded, that the US never presented evidence of Russia’s involvement in election interference or cyberattacks, that there is no evidence of Russian involvement on the Solarwinds hacking and US sanctions only want to cripple Russian tech competitors, or that there is no evidence that the Russian diplomats expelled from Colombia were spies.
