DISINFO: The EU's sole agenda is to wage war against Russia to inflict maximum damage
SUMMARY
A new agenda with the EU won't give anything to Armenia, because the EU itself has no agenda at all.
The EU has one agenda: to wage war against Russia to inflict maximum damage on Russia. In the context of the Eastern Partnership, it is not evident that the relationships between Georgia-EU, Ukraine-EU, and Moldova-EU, as well as the Europeanisation processes of these countries, were driven by any agenda other than the conflict with Russia.
RESPONSE
Recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin media about the EU, trying to discredit the latter's deepening cooperation with Armenia, as well as downplaying its relations with Eastern Partners, alleging that Ukraine, Georgia, or Moldova are a 'springboard' and EU 'tools against Russia.
This disinformation claim was made against the background of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council of 13 February 2024, where the parties announced that they agreed to launch work on a new EU-Armenia Partnership Agenda, establishing more ambitious joint priorities for cooperation across all dimensions.
The EU is not a party to the conflict in Ukraine and is not interested in an escalation of the war. The EU is not pushing Georgia, Armenia, or Moldova to open a second front against Moscow. Read more about the EU relations with its Eastern partners here.
The Ukrainian state is under attack by Russia. Ukraine and its population are defending itself against this armed aggression in a remarkable display of continued courage and determination. This is not a decision by NATO, Washington, the EU, or others. The US, the EU, and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked.
