DISINFO: The Bundestag suggested frightening Russia by introducing German police in the Donbas
SUMMARY
Hände hoch! Bundestag deputies suggest sending German police to Donbas to scare Russia. An initiative called “The Peace in Ukraine Needs a New Impulse” suggests that this would act as deterrence against “Foreign Aggression”, i.e. Russia.

The Parliamentary faction of the Free Democratic Party of Germany, FDP, has issued a parliamentary initiative to intensify the efforts to bring peace to Eastern Ukraine. The FDP parliamentary initiative - link here - suggest strengthening existing missions in the area. Points three to five (see link) of the FDP initiative suggests the establishment of a UN Police Mission to support the existing OSCE and EU Missions in the region:
To work in a timely manner for a mission with sufficient resources to effectively implement the tasks within the peace plan for Eastern Ukraine;
To promote within the EU for a new or complementary civilian police component ot above mentioned UN Mission with tasks to cooperate with local Ukrainian security authorities;
To increase staff fo existing observation, border surveillance and police missions as the EUAM Ukraine, so that the targeted security sector reform can be implemented in a timely manner and the security forces can have a deterrent effect on external aggression,
EUAM is a European Union civilian mission to reform the Ukrainian security sector, including the police and the rule of law. Germany is currently involved in this with up to 20 policemen and civilian experts.
