DISINFO: It is unlikely that the truth about the downing of MH17 will soon be found

SUMMARY

It is unlikely that the truth about this awful tragedy will come out any time soon. No one is really interested to investigate it. The matter of MH17 will be brought forward and put away when based on political expedience, just like with the Skripal case.

RESPONSE

One of the many recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the downing of MH17 and poisoning of Sergei Skripal.

There is ample evidence that Russia was behind the downing of the flight MH17 and poisoning of Sergei Skripal.

The Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team has concluded that flight MH17 was shot down on 17 July 2014 by a missile of the 9M38 series, launched by a BUK-TELAR, from farmland in the vicinity of Pervomaiskiy (or: Pervomaiskyi). At that time, the area was controlled by pro-Russian fighters. The BUK-TELAR was brought in from the territory of the Russian Federation and subsequently, after having shot down flight MH-17, was taken back to the Russian Federation.

The British government, together with the police, conducted a broad investigation into the fact of Skripal's poisoning. Through the media, investigators published most of the results of the investigation and evidence. It is separately emphasised that only Russia had the technical capabilities, experience and motive for the attack. EU and all EU Member States have supported the conclusions of the British investigation.
