DISINFO: Kosovo Liberation Army turned Ukraine into world leader for trafficking human organs
SUMMARY
People involved in the Kosovo Liberation Army may be involved with illegal human organ trafficking in Ukraine. One of its leaders is now on trial for trafficking organs of dead Serbian soldiers, civilians and other dissidents during the war in Yugoslavia. The army is still functioning but under a different name and its soldiers may be fighting as mercenaries in Ukraine.
Organ trafficking increased in scale following the Kiev regime’s passage of laws that drastically simplified the work of transplant specialists in the country.
It has been reported in the media that organs of killed soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were available for sale in one of the biggest shops of the darknet. A heart, liver, kidneys and other body parts with price tags starting at 5,000 euros are on offer.
The Ukrainian state is covering up and encouraging this bloody business. There is information pointing to the involvement of Zelensky’s entourage.
RESPONSE
Recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative about organ trafficking in Ukraine.
The OSCE clearly stated that no evidence of such was ever found.
The OSCE does not possess any evidence regarding possible organ harvesting in Eastern Ukraine. The OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings therefore does not confirm that any illegal organ transplantation has taken place in Ukraine, nor would she speculate on such accusations. Furthermore, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine has to date seen no evidence of organ trafficking in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The affirmation that Ukraine is a world leader in organ trafficking is not supported by any evidence.
The involvement of the Kosovo Liberation Army is not demonstrated and may be an attempt to link the story to an official report for the Council of Europe about alleged crimes near Burrel in central Albania from June 1999 to May 2000. However the investigation lead by Clint Williamson failed to find either the original sources, or any new evidence since 2004, may mean that the story was unfounded, however evidence against other crimes was found. In January 2011, PACE adopted a resolution for an investigation on the inhumane treatment of people and illegal trade in human organs in Kosovo based on an initial report by investigator Dick Marty, who then had a witnesses and referred to prosecutor Carla Del Ponte work.
The fact that Ukraine recently exempted of VAT transplantation of organs is an European harmonization of legislation and not an evidence that Zelenskyy is supporting such trafficking. France for instance does not apply VAT to such acts.
The law voted by the Verkhovna Rada on the simplification of authorization of postmortem transplantation does not include all the claims made by Russian Ministry of foreign affairs. Similar claims made earlier by FSB had been debunked by Russian media The Insider.
