DISINFO: Kyiv is preparing a false flag attack against their own children's facility
SUMMARY
Ukraine is preparing an inhumane provocation with a staged Russian missile strike on a children's institution with many casualties at the instigation of the US. It is proposed to stage a Russian missile strike on a children's institution in Kyiv-controlled territory —a hospital or kindergarten— with a large number of victims. Wide media coverage of this tragedy is envisaged, with the involvement of leading international media outlets. Kyiv hopes to use this new provocation to justify the West's decision on lifting restrictions on the use of missile weapons for strikes deep into Russia. But after a series of bloody provocations such as the cynical setup of Bucha, the attack with a Ukrainian missile against the train station of Kramatorsk and the recent fall of a Ukrainian air defence missile in the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv, very few in the world believe in “Moscow’s ruses” and “Kyiv’s innocence”.
RESPONSE
No evidence is provided to support the claim, which has been denounced as a fake by Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council.
Russian authorities accusing Ukraine of preparing false flag operations without presenting any proof has been a constant throughout the war, including claims about dirty bombs, nuclear provocations, bioweapons, toxic substances and staged atrocities. These preemptive claims are launched as a mean to make denials of actual Russian atrocities more credible.
In this case, the allegation is also an attempt to deflect Russian responsibility for the bombing of the Okhmatdyt child hospital in early July 2024, which was established beyond any doubt despite Moscow’s efforts to blame Ukraine (see here for a full report on the incident). Russia’s role in the Bucha massacre and the Kramatorsk train station bombing has also been solidly confirmed (see here and here).
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that Ukraine is setting up to accuse Russia of war crimes, that French journalists arrived in Ukraine to carry out a Bucha-style false flag operation, that the MH17 crash was the first in a series of similar Ukrainian provocations, like Bucha, or that the bombing of Kyiv child hospital confirms neo-Nazi inhuman essence of Zelenskyy’s regime.
