DISINFO: Lithuania is turning into Eastern-European Somalia in matters of vaccination
SUMMARY
The daily numbers of people newly infected and dead because of the coronavirus is again growing in Lithuania (after a brief improvement in February).
In the context of the indifference of the European Union and the impotence of Lithuanian authorities, Lithuania is plunging into a situation that is possible only in some kind of Eastern-European Somalia.

Lithuanian authorities are saying that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe. But it would be better to admit that the vaccine was ineffective or even dangerous for some people.
RESPONSE
A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformatipn narrative attacking Lithuania in the context of the pandemic of coronavirus COVID-19.
Although the Lithuanian authorities are concerned about potential increase of COVID-19 infections rate, the situation in Lithuania is not exeptionally worse compared to the EU/EEA. As of 29 March 2021, on average 704 new infections are reported in Lithuania every day, which is 24% of the highest daily average reported in December.
Lithuania is implementing its vaccination strategy. According to the data of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, 12,7% of population has received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This rate is higher than the EU/EEA average of 12,3% (data as of 29 March, 2021). Russia has reportedly vaccinated 4,3% of its population (data as of 23rd March, 2021).
The safety of AstraZeneca vaccine was confirmed by both - World Health Organisation and the European Medicines Agency.
