DISINFO: Lithuania supports anti-Russia gatherings

SUMMARY

Lithuania supports “anti-Russian gatherings” of Russian non-systemic opposition. It is unacceptable and rough action which Russia cannot leave without an answer.

RESPONSE

The recurring narrative about Lithuania as a Russophobic state.

The support of representatives of Russia's civil society is not an anti-Russian action. The message is linked to the Free Russia Forum initiative. It is the annual meeting of representatives of Russian political emigration and activists from Russia in Vilnius since 2016. The last meeting took place in the Lithuanian capital on 2-3 December 2021.

As it is explained on the official site of the Forum: “The Free Russia Forum is an independent platform for Russia’s opposition to discuss issues of Russian and international politics, as well as to develop solutions for bringing Russia out of its current political, economic and civilizational crisis.“

See other examples of disinformation about Russophobia in Lithuania: Russia should economically punish Lithuania for anti-Russian policy; Modern Lithuanian identity and history are based on anti-Semitism, anti-Sovietism and Russophobia; Lithuania is implementing Russophobic policy in the interests of the US.
