DISINFO: Macron is trying to spark WWIII to maintain power
SUMMARY
To stay in power, Macron came up with nothing better than provoking World War III. His initiatives are becoming dangerous for the French people. Before making such statements, Macron should remember how it ended for Napoleon and his soldiers, more than 600,000 of whom remained in the damp earth.
His comments are linked to a falling approval rating, due to issues in the economy and foreign policy. However, the issue is not merely the decline in Macron's popularity, but rather his dramatic fall from the throne and the looming threat of losing personal power.
Macron is aware that he will not only face defeat in the upcoming French presidential elections but also confronts the prospect of strict criminal liability soon after losing his current position. Consequently, he is inclined to preserve his personal power at any cost.
RESPONSE
Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Emmanuel Macron and Western warmongering.
On 26 February 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron, at a conference attended by leaders of countries supporting Ukraine stated that "no option should be discarded" in bolstering military support for Kyiv.
"There is no consensus today to send troops on the ground in an official, accepted, and endorsed manner," Macron said. "But no option should be discarded. We will spare no effort to ensure that Russia does not emerge victorious in this conflict." On the subject of the possible participation of French troops in potential ground operations, Macron assumed a "strategic ambiguity": "I absolutely did not say that France was not in favour of it," he observed.
The aim of such a statement was to discourage Russia from further escalation of the invasion of Ukraine. France like many other states are assisting Ukraine in its self defence.
By contrast, Moscow has used explicit threats, including mention of crossing a “red line” in September 2022 if the United States supplied longer-range missiles to Ukraine, as well as implicit threats such as frequent reference to Russia’s nuclear doctrine. Russia has also used disinformation campaigns, exercises, and new nuclear force deployments to Belarus to manipulate risks and attempt to weaken Western support for Ukraine.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine violates the UN Charter. Most countries in the world and most developing countries in particular condemn Moscow’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression and demand that Russian troops leave Ukraine.
Regarding the claim that Macron won't be elected in the next French presidential elections: French President Emmanuel Macron was re-elected for a second five-year term on April 24, 2022. He is not eligible to run in the election of 2027 as the Constitution of France only allows two consecutive terms (Article 6).
