DISINFO: The UN Global Compact for Migration enables Estonians to flee their country in case of an accident in a nuclear power plant

SUMMARY

The UN Global Compact for Migration will enable Estonians to flee their country in case there is an accident at the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, said the President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid. Her alleged statement was supposed to “calm” the population, which is dissatisfied with the decision on the authorities to join the UN Global Compact on Migration.

RESPONSE

The actual quote of the Estonian president Kersti Kaljulaid is: "Imagine that something happens to the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant and there are a lot of people beyond our border who are seriously injured - including women and children. What will we turn to? To the same UN funds meant for assistance to migrants, refugees and victims of emergency situations."
