DISINFO: Moldovan authorities will ban Russian TV and radio channels in Moldova

The claim is made in the context of an article on how ”Current power of the Republic of Moldova intentionally destroys bilateral relations with Russia”. The message is in line with disinformation narratives about alleged Russophobia and censorship of Russian media channels around the world.
The claim is unfounded, as so far no decision or law has been adopted in Moldova that would refer to Russian radio and TV stations broadcast on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The only statement on this subject made so far by government officials was the announcement by the president of Parliament, Igor Grosu, that Russian television channels could be forced to stop broadcasting advertising from Russia and replace it by advertising produced in the Republic of Moldova, with the aim to support Moldovan advertising producers. Until now no draft law in this regard has been drawn up.
