RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative targeting the pro-European government of the Republic of Moldova, portraying it as Russophobic and dangerous for its own people.
The draft of the National Security Strategy, presented by President Maia Sandu, defines the main threats to the national security, one of them being the Russian Federation. The document’s aim is to consolidate national security and to counter any threats. Maia Sandu said many times (including in July 2022, min 34-38) that Moldova will remain a neutral country and it will resolve the Transnistrian conflict only in a peaceful way.
The same was reiterated by Prime Minister Dorin Recean on 8 December 2023, who said in an interview: "We are working with the OSCE and other partners to have a political settlement of the Transnistrian dispute. This regulation must be a peaceful one. It's just that it starts with an essential element: the demilitarisation of the area, that is, the withdrawal of Russian troops and the removal of Russian ammunition and military equipment from the left bank of the Dniester. So this is where any other peaceful regulatory plan must begin. (...) The situation has an even greater responsibility for Moldova to ensure peace and security in this region, because it is not only about the Republic of Moldova in this case, but also about not opening another front in the southwestern part of Ukraine”.
See here a similar cases claiming that Moldova is preparing for war and here a case saying the Kyiv junta is inciting a war in the Caucasus and Transnistria.
