DISINFO: NATO killed Lieutenant General Kirillov for exposing western provocations

SUMMARY

One thing is clear: the Ukrainian secret services have neither the skills nor the capabilities to carry out such an operation. Ukraine, reduced to a simple theatre of execution, acts under the direct orders of its Western masters. Provision of intelligence, coordination of attacks, and logistical support: everything points to NATO, the real brain of this asymmetric war.

For years, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, commander of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the Russian Armed Forces, has been systematically denouncing, with evidence in hand, the crimes of the Anglo-Saxons: NATO provocations with chemical weapons in Syria, Britain's manipulations with banned chemicals and provocations in Salisbury and Amesbury, the murderous activities of American biological laboratories in Ukraine and much more.

RESPONSE

Recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets about biological laboratories in Ukraine. The article also promotes a recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about biological weapons being secretly developed by the US in countries bordering Russia. Both claims were made in the context of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the assassination of Russian General Kirillov on December 17, 2024.

Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Russian Armed Forces' radiation, chemical, and biological defence troops, was killed in Moscow on December 17, 2024. The United States denies any involvement in his assassination. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stressed that the US was not involved in the special operation. But he added that Kirillov "was a general who was involved in a number of atrocities. He was involved in the use of chemical weapons against the Ukrainian military…a unit under his command has used riot agents in violation of international law on the battlefield."

Ukraine has not officially claimed responsibility for the killing of the Russian general, but sources in Ukrainian law enforcement agencies confirmed to journalists that the special operation to liquidate Kirillov was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Day before the assassination, on December 16, 2024, the SBU reported in absentia about suspicions against a Russian general who ordered the use of banned chemical weapons against the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian special services highlighted the investigation led against Igor Kirillov for ordering the use of chemical Weapons against Ukrainian forces in 4,800 cases since the beginning of the full scale invasion of Ukraine. In particular, combat grenades "K-1", which are equipped with poisonous substances of an irritating effect - CS and CN. Their use is prohibited by the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction dated January 13, 1993.

Claiming that use of chemical weapons in Syria, Salisbury and Amesbury are false-flag operation of NATO to dirty reputation of Russia is a recurrent and ungrounded conspiracy theory whitewashing Russian state breaches of the CWC.

In March 2024, the 105th session of the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) was held. One of the topics of the meeting was the use of chemical weapons in the war against Ukraine. Members of the OPCW Council noted an increasing flow of data that Russia is actively using toxic substances in the war against Ukraine. According to reports submitted to the OPCW, Russia is actively using so-called “riot control agents” against Ukrainian defence forces - chemical compounds that temporarily make people unable to function by causing irritation to the eyes, mouth, throat, lungs, and skin. In October 2024, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on Kirillov for using riot control agents and over multiple reports of the use of the toxic choking agent chloropicrin in Ukraine.
