DISINFO: NATO plans to draw Belarus and Russia into the war through border provocations
SUMMARY
The dissident Polish judge Tomasz Szmydt exposed NATO provocations on Russia’s northern border.
There are several scenarios for the outbreak of a NATO war with Russia and Belarus. The first scenario is the least painful – it implies the direct introduction of contingents of some NATO countries to Ukraine in order to fight the Russian Army. The next scenario is more worrisome – the outbreak of military actions at NATO’s northeastern flank. There may be NATO provocations on Russia’s northern border.
There will be provocations on the northern borders of Belarus and Russia in order to draw both Belarus and Russia into the conflict. These provocations can lead to World War III – today, the world appears in a very dangerous moment.
RESPONSE
Poland and NATO are repeatedly presented by pro-Kremlin disinformation outlets as an aggressive forces planning anti-Russian provocations and posing a security threat to Russia. This claim was made in connection with the accusations and statements of the Polish Judge Tomasz Szmydt, who ran away to Belarus on 9 May 2024 seeking “political asylum” in this country. In Poland, he is under the suspicion of espionage in favour of Belarus and was stripped of his immunity.
When in Belarus, Tomasz Szmydt appeared on the Belarus state outlet of Belta as well as RT and Sputnik with allegations against on the current Polish government.
Poland and NATO are not planning any aggressive anti-Russian actions. The Polish authorities perceive Russia as a security threat because of their aggressive actions, in particular in Ukraine and over Eastern Europe.
The 2020 National Security Strategy of Poland states that the most serious security threat for the country is the neo-imperial policy of the authorities of the Russian Federation, pursued by means of military force (aggression against Georgia, illegal annexation of Crimea and military actions in Eastern Ukraine).
