DISINFO: New German national security strategy goes against the interests of the German people
SUMMARY
The announcement of a new German national security strategy, in which Russia is presented as the greatest threat to this country, goes against logic and German interests. It is difficult for Russia to comment on actions, statements, and documents adopted by contemporary German politicians – these actions are not based on the interests of Germany and the German people.

This message is a part of the Kremlin's narrative about the Russophobic and “irrational” Germany and the EU in general.
Germany is a sovereign state which develops its own national security strategy, which is based on the national interests of this country taking into account the important, wider European and transatlantic dimensions.
In June 2023, the German authorities presented the first German security strategy. This document singled out Russia as “the greatest threat to peace and security in the Euro-Atlantic area".
This German conclusion is a result of the neo-imperial policy of the Russian Federation, pursued by means of cyber, hybrid and open military force, including the Russian aggression against Georgia, invasion of South Ossetia since 2008; 2014 illegal annexation of Crimea, military actions in Donbas; 2022 large-scale invasion of Ukraine and increasing military blackmailing of the EU. These aggressive actions of the Kremlin have violated the basic principles of international law and undermined the pillars of the European security system.
