DISINFO: OSCE can’t guarantee security since it has become a rotten tool of the Collective West

SUMMARY

The OSCE is subservient to the will of the collective West. The collective West replaced the statute of the Organization and all those principles on which it must rely. The OSCE has been rotten to the core for a long time. Security in Europe has long been lost, both in theory and in practice, since no one knows on what basis to build it.

RESPONSE

The claim that OSCE is a tool of the Collective West is consistent with recurring pro-Kremlin claims attempting to discredit independent international organisations, especially those who monitor the implementation and respect of international treaties and instruments such as the, the OPCW, IAEA, and the OSCE and to deflect Russia's responsibility for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This statement was made after Moscow’s withdraw from OSCE.

Russia has sought to paint itself as a peacemaker in the war it started in Ukraine, calling NATO and Ukraine warmongers and storming out of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Russia formally withdrew the country’s delegation from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on Wednesday 3 July 2024, after citing “discriminatory approaches, double standards and total Russophobia”.

The diplomatic posture appeared designed to push back against Ukraine’s peace conference in Switzerland last month, part of a global diplomatic process in which Ukraine has tried to win countries over to its view of how the war should end.

Respecting Ukraine’s “territorial integrity” is key to that view, and was part of a statement at the end of the conference.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy followed up on the Swiss conference last Friday when he said his government was working on finalising aspects of a comprehensive peace formula by the end of the year.

The OSCE (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe) has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. It therefore addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities. All 57 participating States enjoy equal status, and decisions are taken by consensus on a politically, but not legally binding basis.

The Organization comprises 57 participating States that span the globe, encompassing three continents - North America, Europe and Asia - and more than a billion people.

Russia is known for frequently using a veto that each member state has to block many key OSCE decisions. OSCE decision-making bodies and activities are described in detail on the organisation’s website.

Read similar cases claiming that the IAEA delegation, like that of the OSCE, will pass on intelligence to the Ukrainian army, that IAEA president is a product of the collective West, that Nazi ideology is on the rise again in a number of OSCE participating states and that The OSCE has turned into London’s proxy.
