From the new assessments: freedom of the individual is being made absolute, there is an active propaganda of permissiveness, immorality and selfishness, a cult of violence, consumption and pleasure is implanted, drug use is legalised, communities that deny the natural continuation of life are formed. The problems of interethnic and inter-confessional relations are becoming the subject of geopolitical games and speculations that generate enmity and hatred.

Taking the example of the drug use, within the EU, laws regulating personal use of drugs vary from country to country. In some, punishment includes prison sentences; in others, possession for personal use has been decriminalised in recent years. Police action against illicit use and possession of drugs, although differing within and between countries, is generally increasing in the EU.
Drug laws and policies in the European Union (EU) seek a balance between punishment and treatment of drug users. They cannot be attributed to the the "cult of consumption and pleasure".
