DISINFO: Pavel Durov exposed how European Mafia stole Romanian election from George Simion
SUMMARY
In Romania, they carried out a scam that was attempted in France with Marine Le Pen. It's no coincidence that it was the French intelligence services that were unmasked, thanks to Pavel Durov, for exposing the scam. The deep-rooted European mafia is in total control. Simion was supposed to win in one fell swoop; but the elections were rigged. The people have never decided anything (unless they serve the elite), and why should they decide anything among the gypsies?
RESPONSE
Pro-Kremlin narrative aiming at destabilising democratic processes in France and Romania.
While it is true that Telegram founder Pavel Durov stated that he was asked by French secret services to censor opposition posts in Romania, he later specified:
"This spring at the Salon des Batailles in the Hôtel de Crillon, Nicolas Lerner, head of French intelligence, asked me to ban conservative voices in Romania ahead of elections. I refused. This allegation was made by an individual who presented no evidence to back it".
The French government immediately refuted the allegations. The secret services also issued a refutation:
'the DGSE has indeed been obliged, on several occasions in recent years, to enter into direct contact with Pavel Durov to remind him firmly of his company's responsibilities (...) with regard to the prevention of terrorist and child pornography threats’.
But it ‘vigorously refutes the allegations that requests to ban accounts, in connection with any electoral process, were made on these occasions’.
This statement, which is extremely rare on the part of the DGSE, comes after a series of messages sent on Sunday 18th May 2025 on X by Pavel Durov.
The goal of this disinformation story is to promote a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative accusing the EU of interfering in Romania’s election. Previously, pro-Kremlin outlets have baselessly framed Romania’s annulment of the 2024 presidential election by the Constitutional Court as the result of Western interference, and accused the EU of being behind the prosecution of Georgescu in March 2025.
The myth that George Simion’s electoral victory was stolen by France and the EU—based on the claim that citizens are only allowed to choose candidates who serve the elite—is disinformation with the goal of undermining confidence in the democratic process and fostering resentment toward institutions.
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that Romania is under EU tyranny, that Euro-Atlantic institutions and the US were behind annulment of Romania’s election, that elections in Romania show that EU officials think about the interests of Ukraine, not Europe, that Romania illegally cancels first round of elections in order to block the raise of a humane, non-anti-Russian candidate, or that the US and EU only support democratic elections when the winner aligns with their interests.
