DISINFO: Poland destroys the OSCE as a negotiating platform
SUMMARY
Poland destroys the OSCE by refusing the participation of the Russian delegation led by Minister Lavrov. Poland is a country that chairs the OSCE, so it must ensure equal working conditions for all member states. Poland challenges the very fundament of the OSCE as well as the sphere of security and cooperation in Europe. The OSCE was established as a discussion platform for different countries and politicians with different views – today, the Polish Chairmanship destroys this negotiating platform.

This message is a part of the Kremlin’s widespread narrative about anti-Russian Poland and the OSCE, which has allegedly become a “marginalised” anti-Russian organisation.
The claim that the Polish and Swedish Chairmanship in OSCE “destroyed” and marginalised this organisation is ungrounded.
This claim was made in connection to the recent Polish decision not to admit Minister Lavrov to the OSCE meeting. On 18 November, the Polish MFA announced its decision not to admit Russian representatives to the OSCE Ministerial Meeting in Łódź. According to the Polish statement, “delegations should be adjusted to the current EU regulations and not include persons that are sanctioned by the European Union. Following Russia’s illegal aggression against Ukraine on February 24th, a number of Russian nationals were added to the list of sanctioned individuals, including Minister Lavrov”. This Polish decision is an act of solidarity with Ukraine.
